How do I search the Stretch to Win website?
Place your cursor in the search bar in the top right of page - it looks like this:
By using double quotes around a set of words, you are asking the search engine to find those exact words in that exact order.
Operators (and, or, not)
The default behavior is to consider all of the words in a search. This is the same as using the "and" operator between each word or phrase. If you want to specifically allow any one of several words or phrases, you can use the "or" operator. If you want to exclude a specific word or phrase, you can use the "not" operator.
For example, if you were to search for John or Jane and not Doe, your results would contain John Smith and Jane Smith but John Doe and Jane Doe would be excluded.

What is Re-certification?
Re-certification is an online program you are eligible for once a live workshop has been taken. A live workshop certification is good for 2 years. When you have reached the 2 year mark, you may:
- Re-certify online at your current level – Certification good for 1 year from date of completion
- Re-certify by repeating a live workshop at your current level – Certification good for 2 years from date of completion
- Complete a higher-level, live workshop in lieu of re-certifying at your current level – Certification good for 2 years from date of completion.
What if I don't re-certify?
A practitioner who does not maintain their certification is considered to have an expired certification. An expired certification indicates that a practitioner is not current in their training and not in compliance with Institute policy. Therefore the practitioner will be removed from our website Directory and Membership indefinitely or until such time that practitioner is reinstated by re-certification, or takes in person, the next higher level certification course.
After a certification expires, the practitioner may not state or otherwise imply verbally, online, or in any communication that they are currently certified in Fascial Stretch Therapy. Nor may they use any FST marks, photos, videos, logos or any other proprietary Stretch to Win FST material, whether or not they were previously permitted to do so, which could mislead the public into thinking that practitioner is certified. However, as long as they do not mislead or misinform the public or other professionals that they are currently certified in FST, they may state that they were trained in FST or were formerly certified in FST.
A practitioner who does not maintain their certification may continue to practice FST with clients and patients as long as they do not misrepresent themselves as being currently certified in FST.

What is the difference between FST and Myofascial Release?
As stated by John Barnes, PT, one of the originators of myofascial release, “Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.” (http://www.myofascialrelease.com).
Fascial Stretch Therapy (or FST) is a very different approach developed by Ann and Chris Frederick:
Stretch to Win - Fascial Stretch Therapy is a neuromyofascial manual therapy that focuses on the connective tissue system rather than isolated muscle treatment. We assess passive, active and resisted movements in functional positions as well as on the treatment table. The approach starts with assessment and treatment where needed at the deepest part of the connective tissue system - the joint capsule. It progresses through all the layers of fascia, ending with the superficial layer. Where the central or peripheral nervous system is restricted or not optimal in movement, proper neural mechanics is restored. Muscles that were inhibited are activated while those that are over activated are normalized. Finally home program prescription follows so that the client/patient becomes an active partner on their journey to wellness or sport performance.
