Use your passion, activity or interest & become a 'specialist' in your community. Example - I used to be a professional dancer & decided early in my career as a manual orthopedic & sports physical therapist to specialize in professional dance rehab.

I spent my formative years training in this specialty at what was the best & only place that dancers went for rehab & that was Westside Dance Physical Therapy in 1992. Marika Molnar is the owner & was one of the first dance medicine pioneers with one of the largest, most elite dance companies in the world called The New York City Ballet (NYCB). Peter Marshall was the 2nd pioneering PT with American Ballet Theater, the other large, elite dance company. Needless to say & to put it mildly I learned specialized manual therapy, Pilates rehab & how to apply minimal, camouflaged taping to fit around costumes for performances. I also learned a lot about the biomechanics of the different types of pointe shoes for ladies.

When I moved to Arizona, I duplicated the setup we had at the NYCB & was the first dance medicine therapist with the Arizona Ballet (& its school) under the artistic direction of Ib Andersen (who used to dance at NYCB). I became referred to as the best practitioner in dance related injury rehab in all of Greater Phoenix & had parents drive their kids to see me from all over.

Become a specialist in your passion & besides having more fun working, your dreams will manifest in ways you cannot even imagine.
